Inertia Base

At Inventure, we offer high-quality Inertia Bases, heavy-duty support structures designed to minimise vibration transmission from rotating mechanical equipment—such as chillers, pumps, fans, and compressors—to the building structure. Named “inertia” bases because they add mass and rigidity, these bases use the principle of inertia to resist motion and dampen vibrations effectively.

Design and Construction

  1. Typically constructed from a steel frame filled with concrete or other heavy material, forming a rigid and stable platform
  2. Mounted on vibration isolators, such as spring mounts or neoprene pads, to absorb residual dynamic forces
  3. The added mass significantly reduces vibration amplitude, while isolators prevent transmission of movement to the building structure

Applications

Inertia bases are essential in environments where noise and vibration control is critical, including:

  1. Ideal for environments where noise and vibration control is critical, ensuring comfort and equipment stability.
  2. Used extensively in hospitals, healthcare facilities, and laboratories to protect sensitive equipment and building structures.
  3. Suitable for commercial buildings, offices, data centers, and server rooms where precision and low vibration are essential.
  4. Applied in residential towers, high-rise buildings, and other urban infrastructure to maintain structural integrity and occupant comfort.

Benefits

  1. Effectively reduces structural vibration and noise, safeguarding the integrity of buildings and installations.
  2. Provides a stable operating platform that improves the performance and efficiency of supported equipment.
  3. Extends the operational life of both equipment and building infrastructure by minimizing stress and wear.
  4. Enhances overall comfort, safety, and reliability in sensitive environments such as healthcare, data centers, and high-occupancy buildings.

Easyflex Inertia Bases are engineered to provide additional mass, enhance equipment operation, and improve vibration isolation for a wide range of MEP equipment. These inertia bases are most commonly used with pumps (including close-coupled, inline, end suction, split case) and are also suitable for air compressors, vacuum pumps, and various fans, delivering stable support and improved vibration control.

  1. Available in a wide range of sizes and shapes to accommodate various types of MEP equipment, including pumps, fans, and compressors.
  2. Standard perimeter heights range from 150 mm to 300 mm (6″ to 12″), offering optimal mass for effective vibration isolation.
  3. Custom-made bases can also be produced on request, allowing for tailored solutions that meet unique project requirements and specific site conditions.
